Biography of Private James Langlands Walker
James Langlands Walker was born in Kirriemuir. His father, David, worked as a mill foreman. He came to the University of Glasgow in 1907 to study Scots Law for one year and spent most of his life working as a law clerk.
In February 1916 he enlisted in the Gordon Highlanders. He was reported missing on 18th August 1916 but his death was not confirmed as that date until January of the following year. He was 33 years old and is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
