Biography of Gunner Thomas Evans

Thomas Evans was born in Talley, Carmarthenshire, to John and Elizabeth Evans, of Halfway, Talley, Llandilo, Carmarthenshire. His father was a General Merchant.

Evans studied Arts from 1915 to 1917, first matriculating aged 27. Within his first year, he took classes in Mathematics, Logic, and Non-Grad Greek. Within his second year, he took classes in English and continued in Non-Grad-Greek. Evans also took classes in Latin. During his time at Glasgow University, Evans resided at 6/0 Robertson, 25 Albert Drive, Crosshill.

Evan’s Service Number was 228095. He was a Gunner in the ‘B’ Battalion, 330th Brigade, of the Royal Field Artillery. Evans died on 28th April 1918, aged 29. He is Remembered with Honour at Roisel Communal Cemetery Extension.
