The Robing Room
Description
The Robing Room is incorporated into the Randolph Staircase (also called the Grand Staircase) which leads to the central hall of the Hunterian Museum in the Gilbert Scott Building. This area of the building, including the Randalph Hall and the Grand Staircase, was redesigned by John Oldrid Scott following the sudden death of his father Sir George Gilbert Scott (1811-1878).
The room is so named because it was used by Professors to change into their academic robes before events. During the early 20th Century the stately procession held for graduations would begin and end in the Robing Room.
The Robing Room can now be rented to host meetings or small events.
