On this day in 1909:

The Bodie Riot
University students rioted at a performance by Walford Bodie, "The Bloodless Surgeon" who claimed to have healing powers, at the Coliseum music hall. The stage was bombarded with peasemeal, herrings, potatoes and other projectiles, as the students made known their opinion that he was a charlatan. Four students were arrested during what became known as "The Bodie Riot".
