Description

A lectureship in Education was instituted by the University in 1894. The Chair of Education was founded in 1949 under University Court Ordinance 253 - Glasgow 62.

After a delay in making an appointment, the first person to hold the Chair was Professor Stanley Nisbet, in 1951.
