Archaeology (James Dalrymple Chair)

The Chair of Archaeology was founded in 1972. It was renamed the Dalrymple Chair of Archaeology in April 2009 after James Dalrymple, an amateur archaeologist who left a bequest to the University to fund an annual lecture series. This began in 1911 and continues to this day.
