Archives & Business Records Office

77-87 Dumbarton Road, previously 77-81 Dumbarton Road, was constructed in the early 1970s on the site of tenements which were demolished in the late 1960s. The building currently houses the University of Glasgow Archive Services’ Archives & Business Records Office.

The building has housed several departments since its construction including: The Turing Institute, The Postgraduate Study Centre, the Computer Publishing Unit, CDocS (Committee Documents System) Staff, and Human Resources’ Universal Training Solutions. Before housing University offices, the building was occupied by Peter Holmes Motors.

The University Archives staff moved to the Dumbarton Road Annexe in April 1996 after their West Quadrangle offices were declared unsafe for staff. In October 1998 the University Record Centre opened. The record centre is located in a building on Dunaskin Street that links with the office on Dumbarton Road
