James Campsie
Biography of James Campsie
James Campsie was born on 5th September 1867 in Scone, Perthshire. His father, William, was a blacksmith.
When he was eighteen years old in 1885, Campsie began an Arts course at the University of Glasgow. He graduated MA in 1889.
Campsie then became a teacher. He taught at Calder Street Public School in Govanhill, Glasgow. During the First World War, he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC). You can see his entry in the University's Roll of Honour here.
