Biography of David Anderson

David Fyfe Anderson (1904-1988) was a graduate of the University and Muirhead Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology from 1946 to 1970.

After graduating from the University (MB ChB 1926), Anderson worked as a a McCunn Research Scholar at the University from 1929 to 1931, leading to the award of an MD in 1935. He became an Assistant (later Visiting) Surgeon, Glasgow Royal Maternity Hospital, 1930-70; Rockefeller Medical Fellow at Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA, 1935-36; Professor of Midwifery and Diseases of Women in Anderson’s College of Medicine, Glasgow, 1934-37.

He retired to Bishopton, Renfrewshire and later died in 1988.
