Raj Kumar Kohli graduated BSc (Ordinary) degree in Engineering from the University on the 30th of April 1955.

He was born in Lahore, India, on the 26th April 1933. He attended the Cambridge School in New Delhi, where he excelled in sports, particularly badminton, table tennis and swimming. He was also the Secretary of the Literary & Debating Society. His father, Vidya Nath Kohli, worked as a Diplomat for the India Government Service in Edgware Road, London, where Raj also resided for a time.

Kohli enrolled in the University in 1951, aged 17, to study for a degree in Mechanical Engineering, a subject headed by Professor James Small. He attended classes in Engineering Drawing, Mathematics, Chemistry and Natural Philosophy in session 1950-51; Higher Mathematics, General Engineering and Engineering Drawing II in session 1951-52; Mathematics II, Engineering Drawing II, Engineering Production and Industrial Psychology in session 1952-3; Higher Natural Philosophy, Heat Engines II, Applied Mechanics II, General Design, Electrical Engineering II and Economics in session 1953-4; and finally Heat Engines III, Mechanical Design, Applied Hydromechanics, Strength of Materials and Technical Dynamics in session 1954-55.

In his third year at the University of Glasgow he was awarded a Second Class Certificate for Engineering Production.

Upon graduating, Kohli moved back to New Delhi, where he became a Mechanical Engineer. He died on the 24th February 1982.
