John Wilson graduated from the University with an MA on the 20th of June 1923, with a BL on the 23rd April 1927, and with an LLB on the 21st of April 1928.

John Wilson was born in Glasgow on the 16th of November 1903, and was the son of Hugh Wilson, a plumber.

John first enrolled at the University in 1920, at the age of only 16. During his time at University he lived at his family home of 8 Albion Street, Dowanhill, Glasgow.

In his first year he took classes in Latin and Constitutional Law and History, passing both classes. In his second year he took Mathematics, Roman Law, and Political Economy. In his final year he studied Higher Political Economy, and Logic and Metaphysics. He graduated with an MA on the 20th of June, 1923.

John returned to University in 1923, to undertake a Law Degree. While the matriculation slips show him enrolling in classes in 1923, his student schedule shows he only actually took the classes in the 1924-25 session. In his first year he took classes in Civil Law under J. S. Muirhead (for which he received a First-Class Certificate of Merit) and Law of Scotland (for which he achieved the fourth best class examination result in Professor Gloag’s class). In his second year he took classes in Jurisprudence (for which he won the William Guthrie Prize), Constitutional Law and History (receiving a Second-Class Certificate from lecturer D. B. Mungo), and Evidence and Procedure. In his final year he studied Conveyancing. John received consistently high marks for his studies, and graduated with a BL on the 23rd of April 1927.

He continued to take classes and gained his LLB having taken classes in Forensic Medicine, and Public International Law (for which he gained a First-Class Certificate in R. M. Nicol's class). He graduated on the 21st of April 1928.

Throughout his time at University, John took part in University debates organised by the University’s Dialectic Society, which took place on a Wednesday night in the Union Debating Hall. He also participated in the Glasgow University Scottish Nationalist Association.

Having graduated in 1927, John went on to work as a Law Clerk, and later as a Solicitor.

John died on the 19th of December, 1962.
