Biography of Annie Barlow

Annie Barlow was born on the 1 March 1895 in Glasgow to John Barlow, a surgeon. She enrolled to study a Science degree when she was aged 18, and studying subjects as Zoology Physiology and Organic Chemistry.

Barlow graduated BSc in 1917, and remained at the University to study for a medical degree which she completed in 1920. Soon after qualifying she married George Thomson Mowat in 1921 at the Unitarian Church on St Vincent Street, Glasgow. The General Council Register stated that she went on to practise as a doctor.
