Charles McKay graduated MBChB from the University of Glasgow in 1927. He was born on the 6th February 1905 in Glasgow, son of Charles McKay, who worked as a bank agent.

McKay first matriculated in 1922 to study Medicine, taking classes in Chemistry, Physics and Botany. During his second year of study he won a prize for his work in Professor Bower's Botany class. He married Charlotte Hinshelwood in 1936. He graduated on the 17th October 1927 and went on to become a doctor. McKay practised at the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow, and later served as the group medical superintendent of Glasgow South-Western Hospitals. He passed away in 1963.
