Biography of Bob White

Bob White is Professor of Gene Transcription. He is based at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research.

Robert White graduated BA (first class honours) in Biochemistry from Queen's College, University of Oxford in 1986. He was awarded a PhD in Molecular Biology from the National Institute for Medical Research, Mill Hill, London in 1990. This was followed with postdoctoral positions at the University of Cambridge.

He joined the University in 1995 as Lecturer in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Institute of Biomedical Life Sciences. From 1996 to 2001 he was Jenner Research Fellow of the Lister Institute of Preventive Medicine. He was appointed to a personal professorship of Gene Transcription in 1999. He joined the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in December 2006 as Leader of the Transcription Research Group.
