Biography of Hywel Morgan
Hywel Morgan joined the University in 1993 as Lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1999 and appointed to a personal professorship of Bioelectronics in 2001.
Morgan studied Electronic Engineering at the University of Wales and graduated BSc in 1981 and PhD in 1985. In 2001, he was awarded a Royal Society Leverhulme Senior Research Fellowship for a sabbatical at the Clarendon Laboratory, University of Oxford, and he was appointed Professor of Bioelectronics at the University of Southampton in 2003.
Morgan's research interests are concerned with understanding and exploiting the applications of electric fields to biology, particularly in the context of micro and nano-systems.
