Biography of Ian Maudlin
Ian Maudlin held a personal professorship of Molecular Entomology at the University from 1997 until 2000.
Maudlin graduated BSc (Honours) in Zoology from the University of Newcastle and MSc in Applied Genetics from the University of Birmingham. He was awarded a PhD on the genetics of triatomine bugs in relation to their role as vectors of Chagas' disease from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Prior to joining the University of Glasgow, Maudlin was head of the Tsetse Research Group at the University of Bristol for three years. He left the University of Glasgow to take up an appointment as Head of the Department of Tropical Animal Health at the University of Edinburgh.
