Biography of Professor William Martin
William (known as Billy) Martin is a graduate of the University. He became Lecturer in Pharmacology at the University in 1987 and Senior Lecturer in 1991. He was appointed to a personal professorship of Cardiovascular Pharmacology in 1995. He was Deputy Head of the Division of Neuroscience and Biomedical Systems from 2000 to 2004 and is currently Head of the Division.
Martin graduated BSc honours in Pharmacology from the University in 1976. This was followed by a PhD in Pharmacology supervised by Professor John Gillespie. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Cambridge and New York. In 1985, he became BHF Lecturer in Cardiovascular Pharmacology at University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff.
