Biography of John Oldrid Scott
John Oldrid Scott, born in 1841, was the second son of Sir George Gilbert Scott. Following his father's death on 27 March 1878, J. Oldrid Scott inherited the architectural practice. He completed a number of commissions for the University of Glasgow including: modifying the design of the spire located on the Gilbert Scott Building's main tower; completion of the Bute and Randolph Halls; supervising the construction of the Undercroft; and acting as a consultant on the University's Anatomy and Botany Buildings. He died on 30 May 1913.
