Biography of Robert Robson

Robert Robson graduated from the University of Glasgow with an MA in 1979.

He was born on the 21st of December 1954, in Hamilton, and was the son of Elizabeth and William Robson. At university Robson studied English and Drama. He later attained a Postgraduate Diploma in Theatre studies at Cardiff.

Robson had a very successful career and began work as a community drama worker in Easterhouse housing scheme. In 1983 he began working in Cumbernauld theatre where he directed and sometimes wrote plays. Robson later became the artistic director of the Lowry Theatre and Arts Centre in Salford. In 1979 Robson’s production of Krassivy, Freddy Anderson’s play, won a Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Festival.

Robson later married and had two children. He died on the 7th September 2013.
