Biography of Peter Paterson

Peter Paterson (1870-1955) was a University graduate and St Mungo Professor of Surgery from 1924 to 1935.

After graduating from the University MB CM in 1891 and taking the London MRCS two years later, Paterson spent two years studying abroad. He joined the staff of Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 1895, where he worked under Professor William Macewen. In 1906 he was appointed surgeon in charge of the wards at the Royal.

Paterson's primary research interests were in the control of cancer.
