Dr Bridget McConnell was awarded the honorary degree of DUniv on 18th June 2014 in recognition of her work towards the 2014 Commonwealth Games. As Chief Executive of Culture & Sport Glasgow, she leads a staff of 2,600 and has overseen such projects as the refurbishment of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and an overhaul of the city’s sports and leisure facilities. She represents Glasgow City Council on the Glasgow 2014 Board.

Dr McConnell is a member of the Heritage Lottery Fund Committee for Scotland and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

She was instrumental in the Bid team which won the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and she is now focused on delivering a substantive legacy for the Games.
