Biography of James McKillop
Professor James (Jim) McKillop was Muirhead Professor of Medicine from 1989 – 2011.
McKillop was chair of the Intercollegiate Standing Committee on Nuclear Medicine and of the Administration of Radioactive Substances Committee (ARSAC) of the Department of Health and a Congress President of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine.
He had a career long interest in medical education and served as Head of the Undergraduate Medical School and Deputy Executive Dean of Medicine. A member of the GMC Council, he chaired its Undergraduate Board 2008-2012 and its Audit and Risk Committee from 2014-2016. From 2010-2012 he chaired a review of the core GMC guidance Good Medical Practice which set out the principles and values that came into practice on 22 April 2013.
