Biography of Wacław Litauer
Wacław Litauer graduated from the University in 1944 with an MA in Politics. He came from Łódź, Poland, where he was schooled at the Józef Piłsudski Municipal Secondary School for Boys. His father, Markus, was a bookkeeper.
Litauer had been studying Law at the University of Warsaw and came to Glasgow to study Politics. He first matriculated at the University in 1941 at the age of 31, attending classes in Social Economics, Political Philosophy, Russian, Political Economy, English Economic History, Statistics and Economics. In his second year he received a bursary from the British Council to help fund his studies.
Litauer was granted British citizenship in 1967 while working as an indexer and librarian in London.
