Stanley Nisbet
Biography of Stanley Nisbet
Stanley Donald Nisbet was the first Professor of Education at the University, from 1951 to 1978, and Dean of the Faculty of Arts from 1965 to 1967.
Nisbet was a graduate of the University of Edinburgh (MA, 1934) and worked as a school teacher. He served in the RAF during the Second World War and then was appointed a lecturer in Education at the University of Manchester. He was Professor of Education at Queen's University, Belfast, from 1946 until he came to Glasgow in 1951.
