William Niven

William Dickie Niven (1879-1965) was Professor of New Testament Language and Literature, 1935 to 1946, and of Ecclesiastical History from 1946 until 1949.

Niven studied at the University of Aberdeen (MA, 1900) and at Berlin and Halle. He was assistant to the Professor of Logic at Aberdeen from 1903 to 1906; a minister from 1907 until 1927, and then Professor of Church History at Trinity College in Glasgow until his appointment to the University Chair in 1935.
