William McKechnie

William Sharp McKechnie (1863-1930) was a graduate of the University who was Professor of Conveyancing from 1916 to 1927. He was awarded an LLD in 1927.

Born in Paisley, McKechnie graduated MA from the University in 1883 with first class honours in Philosophy, and went on to obtain an LLB (in 1887) and a DPhil (1897). In 1890 he became a solicitor in Glasgow and he was a lecturer in Constitutional Law and History at the University from 1894 until his appointment to the Chair of Conveyancing in 1916.
