Biography of Tony Slaven
Anthony Slaven came to the University in 1960 as a lecturer in the Department of Economic and Social History. He was appointed Colquhoun Lecturer in Business History in 1970 and titular Professor of Economic History in 1979. In 1988, he was appointed Professor of Business History and Director of the new Centre for Business History in Scotland, the first fully-funded centre for research in business history in Britain. He retired in October 2005.
