Raymond John Scothorne (1920-2007) was Regius Professor of Anatomy at the University from 1972 to 1990.

Scothorne was a graduate of the Universities of Leeds and Chicago and became a lecturer in Anatomy at Leeds in 1944. He came to Glasgow as Senior Lecturer in Anatomy in 1950 (he was awarded the Struthers Prize and Gold Medal in 1957), was appointed Professor at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1960, and returned to Glasgow as Regius Professor in 1972.

The Professor's research interests were primarily in tissue transplantation and foetal endocrinolgy, on which he published a large number of academic papers.
