Ronald Alexander Millar was Professor of Anaesthesia from 1972 to 1976.

Miller graduated from the University of Edinburgh MB, ChB (1947), MD (1956) and PhD (1966). After holding a succession of hospital posts in Scotland, England and the USA between 1947 and 1961, he was appointed consultant anaesthetist to the United Cambridge Hospitals with special responsibility to the neurosurgical unit. From May 1970 until coming to Glasgow, he worked at the Clinical Research Centre at Harrow.

Miller's research interests included blood gas measurement of cerebral circulation and the effects of anaesthetics on neurocirculatory control.
