Biography of Declan Doogan
Declan Doogan is a graduate of the University and an Honorary Professor in the Faculty of Medicine.
Doogan graduated MB ChB from the University in 1975. He was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1977. He spent four years in pharmaceutical medicine in the Netherlands, then joined Pfizer Central Research in 1982. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1988 and a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine in the following year.
Doogan has held senior positions in Pfizer in Japan and the US. He was Senior Vice President and Head of Worldwide Development at Pfizer Global Research and Development. He became President, Research and Development of Amarin Corporation plc in 2007 and is now Non-Executive Chairman at Spinifex Pharmaceuticals Melbourne, Executive Chairman of Biohaven Pharmaceuticals and Founder of Brain Food Inc.
Dr. Doogan also holds a Non-Executive directorship of Sosei Group Corporation and is on the Board of the, not for profit, Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute.
Doogan has also held Visiting Professorships at Harvard School of Public Health, Glasgow University Medical School, and Kitasato University (Tokyo) and is Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Cork.
