Biography of Mungo Ferguson
Mungo Ferguson was born on 1st November 1875 in Caithness, the son of Alexander (Alec) Ferguson, a gamekeeper, and Margaret Ferguson, nee McNaughton. He had a younger brother, Alexander, who was born 5 months after the death of their father in 1876.
Ferguson attended the University of Glasgow from 1894, and graduated MA on 13 April 1897. During his studies his Glasgow address was c/o Lindsay, 308 Byres Road, and his home address was Kinbuck, Near Dunblane, Perthshire. In his first year he took classes in Latin and Mathematics, in second year took Greek and Logic, and in his third and final year he took Moral Philosophy, English and Education.
Ferguson worked as the University Library's sub-librarian from the sessions 1908/9 to 1922/23, and died at the age of 48 on 1st February 1924. He is buried alongside his mother (d. 20 Nov 1934) in a cemetery near Dunblane.
