Mandy MacLean
Biography of Mandy MacLean
Margaret (known as Mandy) MacLean was Professor of Pulmonary Pharmacology. In 2008 she became the first woman to receive the prestigious Estelle Grover Lecture Award from the American Thoracic Society. It was awarded for her research on pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). In 2010 she became Graduate Studies Dean in the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences.
Professor MacLean is also heavily involved in scientific communication and formerly directed Glasgow's Café Scientifique, a forum for speakers from all fields of science to promote discussion with the public.
She appeared on the 2010 New Years Honours list receiving an MBE for services to science.
