Biography of William Cooper Thomson

William Cooper Thomson graduated MA from the University in 1824. Having been a student of Hebrew at the University, Thomson became a linguist to the Church Missionary Society at Sierra Leone, where he studied the native languages and assisted in the translation of the Scriptures for the use of the missionaries.

Thomson died at Fouta Djallon, Guinea on 26 November 1843 while on an expedition to that region. His son, also William Cooper Thomson, enrolled at the University in 1855.
