John Kerr Irvine
Biography of John Kerr Irvine
Lieutenant John Kerr Irvine of the Royal Artillery attended St Mungo's Academy and graduated from the University in 1940 with a BSc. He intended to become a teacher but joined the 160 Field Regiment on 13 August that year, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in March 1941, with promotion to the rank of Lieutenant in September 1942. He was killed fighting with the British 14th Army at the Battle of Imphal in Burma on 11 March 1944.
