John Fergusson
Biography of John Fergusson
Captain John Fergusson was born in Dumfries and studied in the Arts Faculty at the University, 1939 to 1941. By February 1945 he was second in command of D Company, 5th Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers.
Regimental records show that Fergusson was killed by enemy artillery fire in the Broederbosch Wood near Afferden in the Netherlands on 16 (not 18) February 1945, during Operation Veritable.
