John Craig Bursary

List of Awards

The John Craig Bursary was instituted in 1697 by John Craig, merchant in Glasgow, who left 2,500 merks secured on a house in the Trongate. It was intended for the maintenance of a bursar in Philosophy and was to be presented by the Dean of Guild and the members of the Merchants' House of Glasgow. It is now awarded every three years by the Merchants' House for distinction in one of the first year Philosophy classes.
