The Arthur Young Medal and Prize was founded in 1974 by the Arthur Young Foundation with a grant from the JJ Deering Scholarship Fund and the partners of Arthur Young McLelland Moores and Co. It was named in honour of (Robert) Arthur Young (1863-1948) the University graduate who was the founder of the accountancy firm Arthur Young & Co. The medal and prize were awarded annually on the recommendation of the Professors of Accountancy to the most distinguished Honours graduate in Accountancy.
