Second World War Roll of Honour
As Clerk of Senate and Vice Principal
it is a privilege to introduce you to this online University of Glasgow Roll of Honour 1939-45. On 11 April 1948, six tablets inscribed with the names of the fallen were
dedicated at a service held in the Bute Hall and placed in the University Chapel where we honour and remember them on Remembrance Day every November 11th.
It is fitting that this tribute is now available online.
The University is proud of those members of our community who gave their lives for this country. We honour them, giving thanks for their sacrifice and that of their loved ones. They had such promise in their lives and looked forward to great careers and so for this sacrifice we are forever in their debt.
We are gathering their stories to serve as a reminder of their lives, and of their futures which were cut short. We must never forget what we owe to these men and women. Our hope is that this tribute will keep their sacrifice in our minds.
