First World War Roll of Honour

The online Roll allows a brief glimpse at the lives of the people whose names are on the Memorial Panels in the Chapel. Young men and young women who had hopes and aspirations just as you do, and as the students, staff and alumni of the University have today.

The world has changed since October 1929 when the University Chapel was opened and dedicated. The values which cost these young men and women their lives are still the values of the University – truth, integrity, excellence, respect for all people – still summed up by the University motto, "The Way, The Truth, The Life."

By searching the records I hope you can see the human being behind each of the names. I hope you can imagine the families and friends they left behind, with their hopes and aspirations. And I trust in these pictures and stories you can find examples of lives given up that we can find in our age, truth, integrity, excellence and respect for all people.
