Matthew Paul McLeod

Matthew Paul McLeod was born on the 22nd February 1883 in Thistle Bank, Dumbarton, Dunbartonshire. He was the son (one brother and six sisters) of William McLeod, a Master Saw Miller, and Mary McLeod (née Paul), and his parents lived at 26 Queensborough Gardens, Glasgow, during the war. They had married on the 9th June 1869, also in Dumbarton.

2nd Lieutenant Matthew Paul McLeod died at the Somme, killed in action during the Battle of the Ancre at Beaumont Hamel on the 14th November 1916. He is buried in the Auchonvillers Military Cemetery, around 12 miles south of Arras, France.
