John MacColl MacDougall

John MacColl MacDougall was born in Oban, and was the son of Hugh MacDougall, a contractor. The family lived at Ardlinnhe, in Argyll.
John joined the University of Glasgow in 1914, and enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine. In his first year he undertook the standard first year Medical classes of Zoology and Chemistry, as well as the second year subject of Anatomy. This may have been due to his successes at school, however evidence of this is unknown. During his first year of University he lived care of Sharp, at 41 Blackie Street in Glasgow.
John's studies were interrupted by the ongoing War, and he was mobilised before completing his first year exams. He joined the 9th Bn. Seaforth Highlanders, where he was made a 2nd Lieutenant. He died on the 26th of March 1918, and is buried at the Hedauville Communal Cemetry, in Somme, France.
He is remembered on the University of Glasgow's Roll of Honour.
