Alexander Ritchie

He came to the University of Glasgow in 1909 and studied Latin, Logic, Moral Philosophy, Mathematics, English, History and Political Economy. He graduated on the 18th June 1912 with an MA.

Alexander became a 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Bn. The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) and was attached to the 23rd Trench Mortar Battery. 2nd Lieutenant Alexander Ritchie died of his wounds on the 28th April 1917 having been evacuated to the French seaside town of Etretat. His headstone in Etretat Churchyard reads "He Lived and Lives Abundantly in Christ". He is also remembered on the Campbeltown War Memorial.
