Biography of Alexander Dunlop

Alexander Dunlop Alexander Dunlop (1684–1747) was the first Professor of Greek at the University from 1704 to 1746.

Born in colonial Carolina, Dunlop came to Glasgow in 1690 when his father William was appointed Principal of the University. He published a Greek grammar that was used in many Scottish schools.
